Variables explicativas de la satisfacción con la democracia

La (in)satisfacción con la democracia emerge como un indicador de opinión pública que evalúa tanto los valores constitutivos de este sistema de gobierno como el desempeño de la administración en turno, por lo que adquiere relevancia esclarecer cuáles son los factores o elementos que causan dichas percepciones ciudadanas. El apoyo al funcionamiento de la democracia es un elemento primordial en el devenir político de un país o región, además de fungir como escudo ante los embates de diversas amenazas que pongan en tela de juicio el régimen democrático. En ese tenor, el presente artículo expone una revisión de la literatura alrededor de las principales variables explicativas de la satisfacción con la democracia, con la finalidad de fungir como punto de partida para aquellos investigadores que pretendan continuar analizando dicho objeto de estudio. Los resultados indican que la literatura académica se ha enfocado en analizar los efectos de diversas variables en la (in)satisfacción democrática, siendo aquellas de corte individual, de uso de medios de comunicación, de actitudes políticas y político-institucionales las más relevantes.
