El pericón. Su música

Abstract

The present work is part of a larger published series addressing the music of Argentinean traditional choreographic species and its origins. Regarding the Pericón, dance of multiple couples, we analyse its music as from the examples there are; those collected during the 19th century and the ones broadcasted at the stand of the show, being the latter those which constitute the traditional species. We also analyse its relation with the contredans and the mazurka.
