Complex Subjectivities of Popular. An Approach from Ethnography and Theology Religious Dynamics

Abstract

This article has its origin in the shared experience with the Religious Dances associated with the Sanctuary of Andacollo during more than eight years. I place this work “halfway,” that is to say, the style of the text, which aims to be a narrative and, at the same time, a scientific article. In addition, I take an interdisciplinary approach that starts with the ethnographic record to culminate in some initial theological reflections. The basis of this research is the understanding of the experience of the members of religious dances under the category of “complex subjectivities”. From these subjectivities, both individual and collective, I try to describe three topics that are relevant to me: their religious self-understanding, the protagonism of women and the registers based on sexual dissidence. I finish with some theological essays from the category of “incarnation in transit” and the understanding of the human being as “mythical and believer.”
