El 90. La crisis económica y política vista desde la gráfica satírica de la época
Abstract
This article analyses the 1890 economic and political crisis in Argentina from the point of view of the political image. The view of these events is focused on the perspective of the graphic political humor. The period between 1860 and 1890 is that of the appearance of great national newspapers and of literary enterprises of diverse nature. Towards the 90´s, two of the main newspapers of political humor had gained importance: El Mosquito and Don Quijote. Together, the former founded in the mid 1800 and the latter in the 80´s, they represented a flow of political criticism to the so called unicato, personified by Juárez Celman. By examining the image, as historical document, the characteristics of the economic and political crisis of the period are analyzed.
